↳ What is our Open Online Course?

Parenting Leave Policies and Inequalities

This open online course (OOC) seeks to advance a comprehensive and critical understanding of the heterogeneity of paid parenting leave policy (PPL) regimes across Europe and their multifaceted implications for social participation, gender relations, and inequality. By engaging in comparative analysis
of national policy architectures, participants will critically assess the mechanisms through which policy design can facilitate gender equality, labour market inclusion, and family diversity — or, alternatively, reproduce and exacerbate existing socio-economic disparities.

Each 30-minute session comprises a concise expert presentation on parental leave regulations in a specific country, followed by a moderated discussion that provides space for questions and comments from participants. The online sessions are held weekly on Wednesdays at 16:00 CET and are open to students,
early-career and senior researchers, as well as any other interested participants.

The invited speakers include scholars from across Europe, including non-EU countries, who provide insights into the diversity of parental leave arrangements and critically reflect on their potential to address or to perpetuate social inequalities.

The sessions can be accessed via this link. From 25th February, the session will be accessible via this link
